During our travel to Australia, Angel & myself went on to couple of tours that was available around the town of Fremantle. The Ghost Tour was one of the girls idea, Angel & Her best mate Theresa, they were so chicken about it but insist on going.... =)) due to curiosity I suppose. Well.. I was curious as well despite having an eariee feeling about it I went ahead anyway with the plan. So one night we went on the tour that started at 6:45 PM . The Ghost Tour destinations was : The Old Fremantle Prison, The Lunatic Asylum ( now is The Art Museum which was nominated as One of The most haunted building in Western Australia ) , The Round House, The Old Cemetery , Etc., most of the building was built by the convicts dated back on 1800 something - you can almost smell the fear lays there... within the building and on its ground ! The tour start at the Town Hall Fremantle - our tram driver Steve was a middle age guy with ghostly face except for his pretty modern cap which we eventually discovered why he wearing one when the strong gust of wind blew it off ... it was to covered his very thin hair and his huge bald patch =)) - sorry Steve =)) - but Steve kept it cool when that happened..and most of us was just pretend that we didn't see what happened - I saw couple of people on tour "MUST" held their smile or laugh =)) pfptpfptppfptpt... again, sorry Steve ! 1st visit was The Fremantle Prison.... it was still used + 10 years ago !
The Fremantle Prison is one of Western Australia's premier heritage sites, centrally located in the heart of the port city of Fremantle. The Prison was built by convicts in the 1850s and was closed as a place of incarceration in 1991 after 136 years of continuous use. It was opened to the public in 1992 as a tourist site and in recognition of its heritage value. The site is listed on the Australian Heritage Commission's Register of the National Estate, on the Heritage Council of Western Australia's Register of Heritage Places and in the Fremantle West End conservation area. Many of the buildings in the precinct are also listed with the National Trust of Australia (WA). At the tour we experience some "presences" and some cold air during our visit to one of many cells there... including the Gallow - the specified building to hang prisoners with the death sentence. It was told that when a prisoner enter the Fremantle Prison they shall see an OWL that can be found on either side of the building ...if they see it on the left side of the building that mean they just going to serve normal imprisonment but if they see the owl on the right side of the building : DEATH SENTENCED ! well.. true or not it is not our role to judge :) - one of those myth about the place.. Oh also, our tour guide double as our tram driver also mentioned and showed us some eerie image on the window that can be seen on one of the window there.... The image of an old pirate or a man with beard was clearly visible ! Yikes ! They thought at 1st it was just a blotch on the window and they change it like... more than 4 times but the image still appear times and times again... believe it or not ! Next The Lunatic Asylum ! The Lunatic Asylum was where they kept many of the prisoners that went crazy, passengers from the ship after a long voyage, etc. The building now is an Art Museum but its dark past.... Dr. Death was also one of the story that lingers about the building *creepy*
The Asylum served its purpose from 1864 through till the early 1900s. At the turn of the century the Asylum was condemned after two deaths occurred under suspicious circumstances. In 1909 the building accommodated homeless women and during 1910-13 it also served as the State's midwifery school. It was known as the Old Women's Home until the Second World War. In 1942 the building became the wartime headquarters of the American forces. There was almost no maintenance carried out during this period and by the end of the war the buildings were in disrepair. During the post-war years some of the buildings were used as temporary venues for technical education classes and as a retraining school for ex-servicemen. Fremantle Arts Centre is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Western Australia, with a number of sitings and reports of at least three ghosts who walk the corridors both day and night. The most reported encounter features a woman, once an inmate of the lunatic asylum, deranged with grief after her daughter was abducted. It is believed that while residing at the former institution, she jumped from a first floor window. Her ghost apparently walks along the passage ways and stairwells in search of daughter. Some of the current Fremantle Arts Centre staff members have experienced ghostly encounters, but most prefer not to speak to widely of their meetings preferring to let the spirits inhabit their workplace in quiet harmony! When we there... we got to see the Padded Cell for the occupant that perhaps want to harm themself but nevertheless... some had managed to do so.. There was also a story about how the authority never found out how to enter the Attics of the building... as there was 2 attics which can be seen easely from the garden of the site - but eventually they found a way to get there which was just a small hidden stairs that lead to the attics....and when they got up there they were shocked by what they found ! More than a few dead unborn babies with all the tubes that hanging over them and stuffs ! That was the work of Dr. Death !! FREAKY ! Truth ? Don't know... there are some lady that wrote a book about the Lunatic Asylum " Casting The Shadows " , you guys can search it for yourself ! and read the full story about it :D - I ain't go any further ! hihihi - by now the girls had shrunk an inch or two... they stayed close to me as much as I want to be as close as possible to them and other human.. or so I think ! Even from a distance the building had such a negative energy that could easely identified as one of the scariest building we've seen day or night. Lunatic Asylum gitu loch ! This large building used to be a mental asylum, then converted into a women's home, and now it's a museum for the arts. The building is always cold even in summer, when it reaches 100 F plus. There are three resident ghosts, including one lady ghost who always walks this one walkway, angry and sad over the loss of her baby, legend says. Poltergeist activity, cold spots, voices and apparitions have all been reported, and it has a reputation of being Western Australia's most haunted building After the Lunatic Asylum we went to the Quarantine Building. The building was used for looking after people who were arriving in Australia but due to long voyage to Australia most of them had contracted some sickness or simply just too tired. Diseases that occured back then was a simple one by this day standard but at the time as they haven't found the cure yet it was a massive outbreak and it was very bad and cursing. Many of them were women and children. Diseases such as chicken pox, measles, TB, common flu was only some of the diseases that they contracted at the time. The Quarantine area had a hospital as well as crematorium which can be an aweful sight for some people as it was pretty gruesome sight ! We didn't like it there very much... part of it was sooooooo dark and cold. The wind blowing pretty hard and we were cold and scared :D - the quarantine sight was not a pretty sight at all... the sound coming from it was pretty evil ! I rather be a live chicken then a dead lion I thought to myself at the time =)) Then there's the Round House... Here we were presented by another old building with its tall mast planted just like it was on the big vessel... completed by its own cells and cannon. This place was not so bad but again... it was a place where someone being "done" and hanged for their wrong doing ! Then there's the Round House... The Round House is the oldest remaining building in Western Australia. It was built as a gaol and was the first permanent building in the colony. It was designed by HW Reveley, the colony's first civil engineer, and built in 1830 - 1831. The Round House had eight cells and a gaolers residence which all opened up into a central courtyard. Bay whaling was carried out from Bathers beach below the Round House. As part of the whaling operations a tunnel was constructed under the Round House to provide whalers with access to the town from the jetty and bathers beach. When the first convicts arrived in 1850 the Round House was inadequate to house them so the convicts built a new goal which was completed in the 1850's and continued to be used as Fremantle prison through until 1991. By now the girls getting really tired and totally scared ! The time we walk the old cemetery and the tunnel... they were just so exhausted and cold, mind you, they had a great time during the tour and they have story to tell the next day :) The two little devils I encountered while on the Ghost tours =)) - the brave lil' tykes was cold and tired at the end but yeah... they completed the tour and sheepishly walking about the tour and most of the time uttering : " Uh... I think I had enough, I want to go home... " but eachtime I said lets go they change their mind ! hahaihaia ... funny lil' devils they were.
It was almost midnight on that weekend by the time we completed the tour. Our legs was tired and our body was cold. We were being dropped back at the Town Hall again by midnight and walk slowly to where we parked our car and drove slowly and disappears into the night and cold air of Western Australia... Our heart was full of questions and the eerie feeling still evolved us .. so we were glad when we got home where is safe and warm, having our hot chocolate before going to bed... ahhh.... Thank GOD we are home safe and sounds :) Didn't like the Crematorium at all ! The smell was so bad ...the smell of death ! Not a nice death too. I had to had a long shower after that tour =)) freakin' ghost tour =)) Anyway... this is the longest post ever for me so I better end it here coz my hnd getting tired and so do I. Hope you guys find some interest in my posting and decide to come Perth - Western Australia to check it out for yourself ! For now... I'm just going to kick back and relax... and enjoy the tropic again :D hihihih - I might post a story and places about Indonesia that just as scary or perhaps more :p - when I can pluck the courage to write so thou ! heiehihei D'oh !
